Tuning Tips
Carbureted Models
Warning! On bikes with a vacuum assisted petcock, we recommend switching to a manual petcock such as a PINGEL or similar. However, if you wish to retain the vacuum type, do not open the "trap door" past the first notch.
Note: On a perfectly tuned carbureted engine, the average AIR/FUEL ratio is 13.7:1. The following suggestions are made assuming your bike is already properly tuned to the current air cleaner installed.
1. We suggest upsizing the Pilot Jet one size (most machines usually have 42, 45, 48, 50 or 52 Pilot Jets.) As an example, if your bike had a 42, change it to 45.
2. Change your Main Jet up 2 to 3 sizes (ex: a 165 main would be switched to a 175 or 180)
Fuel Injected Models
Prior to the installation of the ELITE air cleaner, your bike should already be properly mapped to the correct AIR/Fuel ratio!
Our research has shown that a properly tuned fuel-injected machine will accept the ELITE Air Cleaner with no further mapping required.
